Liberal Democrat Councillor for Banchory & Mid Deeside Learn more
I have lived in Banchory for past 14 years and my children have attended Banchory Primary and Banchory Academy. During this time, I have worked at the Woodend Barn Arts Centre as PR and marketing officer, constituency assistant to Sir Robert Smith MP and since 2007 I have been privileged to serve as one of the three elected members for Banchory and Mid Deeside ward. I also served as Chair of Social Work and Housing and co chair of the health and social care transitional leadership group from May 2012- June 2015. I am on the Ministerial Strategy Group for health and social care integration as the COSLA representative and served on the Governance and Accountability Working Group for health and social care integration as the COSLA representative.
My background is in journalism and broadcasting having worked as a news presenter with BBC Radio Scotland in Aberdeen and Glasgow. Previously I was a news reporter with Radio Tay, Radio Forth, LBC and a news editor with Capital Radio on the award winning news programmme ‘The Way It Is’.
My interests are very much community- based including environmental and town centre enhancement. I was one of the founders of the Banchory bags Campaign which has been successful in reducing the use of single use plastic bags in our shops. I am also on the Bonnie Banchory committee which strives to make a permanent improvement to the visual appearance of the town centre. I am on the Board of AVA, the new Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action third sector organisation. My interests include reading, fly fishing and hill walking.
