Great to see Tim Farron win the Liberal democrat leadership contest.

Having chaired the hustings in Aberdeen with both Tim and Norman Lamb just a few weeks ago I knew it would be a difficult decision and in my mind it was very close as to who should get the leadership. I came down on the side of Tim Farron primarily because in Tim I see a brilliant campaigner who will galvanise the grass roots and this is what we need as he says, to build from the ‘ bottom up’ – he has more than 50 per cent of the vote in his constituency and this is an amazing achievement considering our current standing in polls. So all the best to Tim. We have many new members and it is these supporters that we now need to nurture and give them incentives to stick with us.
